Adoption and Foster Care

November 22nd, 2015 | Adoption, Family, Foster Care, Sermon Topic

Sunday we celebrated Part II of Family Sunday with another round of Child dedications and the announcement of two more births.  On Adoption Sunday, we invited two new friends to share with us at Ecclesia, Sergey Pokrovskiy and Rodrigo de la Sotta.

Sergey lives with his wife and daughter in Ryazan, Russia where he serves as a pastor and overseer of a ministry to 300 orphans.  The stats he shared about the life of a orphan in Russia were sobering.  Thank you to the 4 families who became sponsors of some of the orphans in Ryazan.  To learn more, you can email

Rodrigo works with Olive Crest Foster Services.  You can learn more about how to begin the foster process yourself, or support others in Foster System by emailing him at  In addition, Ecclesia has an ongoing support group for Foster Families and those in the process that meets regularly in LA.  To learn more, email Shannon Copeland at

You can download the message that contains both presentations or listen to it on iTunes.

Finally, we wanted to share online two of the many stories of foster families at Ecclesia.  Nate and Raquel White and Chris Krebsbach share how fostering has impacted them in this video below.  A big thank you to a team of Ecclesia volunteers who put this together for us.

Jon Ritner joined Ecclesia as Lead Pastor in August of 2015. Before moving to LA, Jon had served for three years as a Pastor in a small church plant in Brussels, Belgium and for 10 years as a Pastor in a large church in Williamsburg, Virginia. Jon and his wife, Kristyn, have been married since 2002 and have two children, Addy (10) and Jax (7). Jon is a native of New York and a graduate of The College of William and Mary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Also, he keeps himself humble by rooting for the Chicago Cubs and playing pick up basketball with guys half his age.
