Jesus is described as first and last, a lion and the lamb, a servant and a king. The Kingdom He proclaimed was filled with apparent contradictions and paradoxes and sometimes the commands he gave even seemed to oppose each other. For the next 5 weeks, we will seek to understand how to hold the truths that Jesus taught in tension with one another to better reflect God’s Kingdom on Earth. We will discuss how to wisely navigate in a culture that is increasingly polarized on social, economical and political issues. We will identify our own leanings towards one side or the other, and learn how to better appreciate those in our community who help our church hold each of these truths in tension with each other.
